From
Steven Zunker; March 23, 2009:
"Way to go STLA! Congratulations on a job well done
with the Texas Longhorn Show at the Star of Texas Fair &
Rodeo in Austin on March 21 & 22, 2009. A big thank
you to show chair Daniel Harabis, the Directors and the
Members that helped work and run the show. Although we felt
dirty, sweaty, tired and overworked, it was more than worth
it as the interest in our cattle was overwhelming at times.
Our haltered and non-haltered cattle were showcased at the
front of the barn with a marquee advertising our show. The
crowds were enormous, the largest that I have ever seen
at the Austin show. At various times of the weekend, event
staff had to assist with pedestrian traffic jams in the
Longhorn aisles and alleyways. We were told by staff at
the Star of Texas that Saturday was a record breaking day
at the grounds with the largest attendance they have ever
had in the history of the Fair. The Fair staff said that
they had 10,000 vehicles parked at one time in and around
the fairgrounds. Inquiries on Texas Longhorn were received
by many breeders and exhibitors. I hope to see all of the
exhibitors back next year."
